RSS Exposed for Facebook Fan Pages

Looking to take advantage of your Facebook Fan Page posts via an RSS feed? You may be in luck, as it appears that Facebook may be on the verge of making RSS official.

Over the past month it appears that Facebook has been testing the service as there has been the occasional downtime in January. As the administrator of nearly a dozen pages I am excited by the prospect, and I only have one Page that appears to have an empty feed.

If you do a “View Source” on any of your Pages you will see a very important addition to the HTML head.

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" />

You can use the URL to grab your Facebook Fan Page RSS feed. If you would like to construct the link yourself, you can use the following format.

http://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?format=atom10&id=XXXXXXXXXX

Where “XXXXXXXXXX” is the ID of your Facebook Fan Page. You can easily find your Fan Page ID by clicking on “Edit Page”, if you are a Page Administrator, and grabbing it from the resulting URL in your address bar.

This has been on my wish list for some time, and it looks like Facebook has decided to finally expose our content in a form that is easily digested across the Web.
