Anayltics – January 2009

Posted by on Jan 20, 2009 in Data | No Comments

I was reviewing some analytic data this evening an thought I’d share some findings. For benchmarking, the cross section of sites includes the following stats for December 2008…

  • 500,000 Unique Visitors, 3,000,000 Page Views
  • 90,000 Unique Visitors, 800,000 Page Views
  • 13,000 Unique Visitors, 250,000 Page Views

Almost across the board I notice the following trends…

  • Firefox represents 20% or more of the site traffic
  • IE 6 still represents about 20-25% of the site traffic
  • Safari represents 5-7% of the site traffic
  • The iPhone represents nearly 1% of the site traffic
  • Google Chrome represents nearly 1% of the site traffic

While I am disappointed that IE 6 still looms large when I look at the stats, I really like the fact that I see Firefox continue to grow. That the iPhone has reached 1% or more of the traffic is interesting as well.

And Google Chrome, that is the great unknown. I love the browser but have stopped using it because I mostly work on a Mac and I hate emulating Windows to run it. But it offers some great speed as well as features. Most of them will creep into Firefox I assume.

So what are you seeing out there? Any interesting trends? More mobile browsing? Share your thoughts in the comments!
